Convent Rebuilding Update

Convent Rebuilding Update - Holy Cross Monastery

The convent house construction is almost entirely finished and the house blessing was served on Friday October 18th. We are very grateful to all of the donors who contributed to this project. The house is a compact but sturdy and well-built 16×28 house with a cell, a small kitchen and office corner.

The replacement candle equipment is on its way across the ocean from the Greek manufacturer, but because it is so late in the year the monastery will likely have to begin construction of a new candle workshop facility in 2014. At the current time Mother Theodora and her staff are making candles in the basement of the guesthouse and filling orders as usual, but without the benefit of the mechanized equipment.
