Hermitage of Holy Cross Church Building Fund
With the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Laurus, the brethren of the Hermitage of the Holy Cross have begun raising funds for the construction of a Temple to the glory of God. You can help!
Architect Thomas Stocker Smith has designed a temple, the lines of which are inspired by the medieval single-domed church architecture of Russia. Some of the key features of this church include:
- Exterior dimensions of 45' x 45', with 65' from the floor of the nave to the tip of the dome.
- A gallery with two small side altars. The gallery will provide overflow space for large numbers of monks and pilgrims.
- A processional sidewalk which encompasses the entire church.
- A sanctuary large enough for hierarchical services with a single apse and painstakingly designed sacristies.
- A functional multipurpose basement with a tri-level staircase in the Northern appendage.
