The Monastic Library is a treasury of Orthodox Christian spiritual literature for our brothers and sisters living in the world, including those who may not be familiar with Orthodox Christianity or the monastic life. Here you will find a recommended Spiritual Reading List as well as regular postings of material that we have found spiritually edifying.

The Hermitage of the Holy Cross is a men's monastery in the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, located in the hills of West Virginia near the town of Wayne. Founded in 1986 in St. Louis, Missouri, the monks have been at the present location since May 2000. Our abbot is Bishop George of Mayfield. We support ourselves primarily through the production of incense and soap products, and the sale of imported and domestic church goods.
