Two Tonsures and a New Novice During the Nativity Fast

Two Tonsures and a New Novice During the Nativity Fast - Holy Cross Monastery

This December during the Nativity Fast, three more men committed themselves to Christ in the monastic life at Holy Cross.

On December 3, after the Vigil for the Entry into the Temple of the Most Holy Theotokos, Riassaphore-monk Ephraim made his life vows and was tonsured into the Small Schema. He was given the name Moses (after St. Moses the Hungarian).

On December 18, after the Vigil for the feast of the Holy Hierarch Nicholas, Novice Ivan was tonsured a Riassaphore-monk. Immediately afterwards, candidate Timothy was clothed as a novice.

Fr. Seraphim exhorted the brethren to do everything possible to live a true and authentic life of prayer and repentance, since the greatest offering monastics can make to today’s spiritually impoverished world is their own repentance and prayerful service to the Lord God.

May the Lord bless and strengthen them on their monastic path, through the intercessions of the Most Holy Theotokos, St. Moses, and St. Nicholas!
